Yes — and any installer who tells you otherwise is cutting corners. While the foam is being applied and curing, the chemicals involved are genuinely hazardous, which is why our crew works in supplied-air respirators. Following EPA guidance, plan to stay out for about 24 hours for open-cell foam and up to 72 hours for closed-cell, with good ventilation. Once fully cured, the foam is inert. Problems with spray foam are almost always installation problems — wrong mix, too-thick passes, poor ventilation during cure — which is exactly why hiring a certified installer matters.

No. There are situations where we'll tell you not to use it — and recommend blown-in, batt or nothing at all instead. If a space has active leaks, certain older wiring, or you may need access to what's behind the foam later, spray foam can be the wrong call. We'd rather lose a job than spray foam somewhere it doesn't belong.
